Bio
Texas in July, from Ephrata, PA formed in 2006. The group, at the time consisting of all high school students, recorded a 6 track demo which sold well at the local shows that they played. One of the venues that they performed in was legendary Lancaster spot, The Chameleon Club, which at that time shared a building with CI Records.
While the band, then composed of Alex Good (Lead Vocals), Christian Royer (Lead Guitar), Logan Maurer (Rhythm Guitar), Benn Witowski (Bass Guitar), and Adam Gray (Drums), entertained the local scene, they caught the attention of CI Records and signed with the label in 2008.
Texas In July released their debut EP, ‘Salt of the Earth’, with CI Records in 2008. Less than a year later, the bands debut album, ‘I Am’, was available for mail-order.
Following these releases, the band joined fellow CI alumni, August Burns Red on tour as well as other notable bands including Devil Wears Prada, Every time I Die, and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster.
In 2010, Texas In July, released another single with CI Records entitled ‘Uncivilized’, which also included the song ‘Fair Fight’. Later that year, the band signed to Equal Vision Records. In 2014, CI Records released a 14-song compilation record from the band entitled ‘Uncivilized’.
While Gray and Witowski remained with the band, the band gained some new members in Chris Davis (Lead Guitar) and J.T. Cavey (Lead Vocals) and performed for years leading up to their final tour in 2015 with Invent, Animate.
The band played a one-off show at Chameleon Club in 2021 with the re-addition of Royer, seemingly saying goodbye at the venue that they held so close. The band members remained heavily involved in music. Notable mentions include J.T. Cavey’s work as the lead singer of ERRA, and Chris Davis’ time in The Ghost Inside.
In June 2023, the band surprised fans with the single ‘False Divinity’ nine years after their previous release, ‘Bloodwork'.
